Gene Autry is an American actor, singer and songwriter. He may be best known as the "Singing Cowboy" from radio, movies and television. He began recording mucic with Columbia Records in 1931. "That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine" was his first hit song. In 1934 Autry started working in motion pictures. His first film was In Old Santa Fe where he played a singing cowboy. In 1972, he was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
