Dwight Eisenhower Birthday and Biography

Born October 14, 1890

Dwight Eisenhower was born in Texas in 1890, and raised in Kansas. He studied at West Point Academy, and was stationed in Texas as a second Lieutenant. Later Eisenhower became a commanding General during World War II in Europe. He had a very successful and respected career while serving for the United States Armed Forces. Eisenhower became President in 1953. He brought peace to South Korea, but the Cold War was a continuing challenge that had carried over from Truman's Presidency. Eisenhower suffered a heart attack at the end of his first term, but was fortunate enough to recover and served a second term as President. JFK became President in 1961, and Eisenhower returned to his post as a Five Star General in the US Army.
