Chevy Chase, born Cornelius Crane Chase in 1943, is originally from Woodstock, New York. Chase began his acting career as one of the orginal cast members of the hit TV series Saturday Night Live. He was the original anchorman for the "Weekend Update" skit, and a writer for the show. He left Saturday Night Live after his first season to start his film career, and was replaced by Bill Murray. Some of his first films were Foul Play and Oh! Heavenly Dog. Caddyshack was more successful than his previous movies, and he continued to make great comedy movies. He may be best known for his National Lampoon's Vacation series and Fletch.
